The traditional prime minister, Chief Ogboedege Nkwuda and elders of Izzi Nnodo clan have cautioned the entire sons and daughters of the clan not to trade their political and leadership chance for selfish reasons as that would led to perpetual enslavement,distrust and disunity among the people.
They made the call recently at the ancestral home of Izzi Nnodo clan, Amagu while giving blessings to former state minister for power and steel Chief Goddy O.Ogbaga (Ezeudo) who paid them visit to get their blessings as he contests for the position of Ebonyi North senatorial post come 2019.
Adopting chief Ogbaga, the traditional prime minister showered blessings upon the aspirant,calling all Izzi sons and daughters to support an Izzi man especially somebody from Ebonyi local government to match the equity and fair representation gap which was the reason Izzi people stand behind Engr.Umahi,thus, gave him the chance to led the state when past administration went against the normalcy.
Our reporter learnt that Chief Goddy Ogbaga who hails from Mbeke Ishieke community in Ebonyi local government area which is one of the four local government councils that made up of the Ebonyi north zone is the only local government council that is yet to produce a senator since the creation of the state irrespective of political gurus from the council area whereas,others have had two senators representatives on the capacity of one tenure each.
It was also gathered that the current serving senator His excellency Dr.Sam Egwu promised earlier to follow the due one term rule,thus, give chance to other part to have their fare share as no senator had serve two terms from the zone since the creation of the state.
Stakeholders including Nkwede,Nwuzor,Ogbonna, Nwambam, Nwamgbo,Oroke among others unanimously affirmed their displeasure and disagreement to the course of Dr.Egwu's return which they alleged it is championed by the state governor and compatriots,urging the state governor not to delve into such unfair politics as the post is sensitive one that required stakeholders to handle to ensure fair representation.
They reiterated that they had before now resolved to throw their weight behind the governor's reelection ambitions which according to them is not negotiable, but will not shift ground on certain sensitive posts which hold the life wire of the zone.
According to one of the stakeholders, "the greatest mistake Izzi people will make is to return senator Sam Egwu for second tenure.
" Let nobody deceive you about 2023 Governorship seat which they are saying belongs to Ebonyi North zone .
"Former Governor Sam Egwu has been there as state Governor, Minister and now as a Senator, it is now the turn of Izzi people and we should not allow political sabotage to divide us,we must learn his tactics now.
" The people endorsing Egwu for second term are only deceiving him and trying to incite crisis in the political development of Ebonyi North senatorial zone, this is bitter truth "he expressed.
Another respondent who gave his name as Obeji stated that it gave him sleepless nights whenever he remember that people like the Governor himself and other Izzi political stakeholders are going about supporting marginalization of the zone by endorsing Dr.Egwu for second tenure.
He maintained that during throughout the period Dr.Egwu ascend to the position that he was no where at sight as Ebonyi North zone gain nothing until few days that he starts sharing gifts to his loyalists to attract favour again which will be amount to what he described as selling their birth right to an Ohaukwu minority who failed to reciprocate to the people who gave him the opportunity to ascend to the red chamber. He further stated.
Accordingly, the youths from Izzi insisted that power must move from Ohaukwu back to other local government as a matter of norm and political equity.
However, Izzi Lawyers Forum,a non governmental organization on Sunday 25th March also adopted Hon.Barr.Chief Ogbaga.
According to communique signed by the group PRO,Chigozie Nwankwo Esq. stated that their adoption was motivated by the former minister's prudence and selfless services he had and still rendering to his people which if given chance to serve would do better.
"Izzi lawyers forum at its regular meeting held on the 25/03/2018 hereby adopts and supports the senatorial ambition of Hon.Chief (Barr) G.O Ogbaga (Ezeudo) come 2019.
The legal practitioners, further called the entire Izzi people not to betray their conscience by supporting another person as that has untold hardship and snail pace development to the area.
While wishing him a resounding victory in the said election, appealed him to reunite all Izzi clan and attract more dividend of democracy to the zone.
Also, a social cultural group, Ndi Ebonyi Peace Ambassadors has also endorsed Chief Ogbaga for the senatorial post, assuring him of their support to achieving the political dream.
The group National President, Stanley Nwataetogo and Publicity Secretary Comrade Peter Eze reiterated their readiness to ensure the constituents deliver Chief Ogbaga come 2019 through proper sensitization of the power of personal voters card which is the highest weapon to choose who led them.
The group challenges Ebonyians to ensure they register and collect their voter's card to save the country from the penury created by bad leaders.
