Woman Gives Birth at Polling Booth,Names Child After Rachel Umahi

A woman simply identify as Mrs.Margret Nwopoke on Saturday 9th March, 2019 has reportedly delivered a bouncing baby girl shortly after casting her vote during the governorship and state House of Assembly elections at Ndi Ogbaga Obashi pulling unit,Izzi LGA.
The woman who delivered at Ndi Ogbaga Obashi pulling unit was said to had been at the centre of the voting exercise,patiently queued to vote when she started having unusual feeling that attracted the attention of the booth manager who intervened that she should be allowed to be verified.
  Our reporter gathered that Mrs.Nwopoke was not having any contraction when she came to the booth before the miraculous incident which on intervention was allowed to be accredited and was said to had casted her vote for her choice candidates of people Democratic Party,PDP, Engr.David Nweze Umahi and Hon. Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru, Governor and Member House of Assembly elects before she was accompanied to the nearest compound by fellow Women and she safely delivered a bouncing baby girl that was overwhelmingly and immediately named after the wife Ebonyi State Governor, Her Excellency, Rachel Ogonnaya Umahi.
Speaking with Hon. Anthony Okwu, Ndiogbu Obashi booth manager and Technical Assistant to the Governor on Lagos Liaison office described the experience as a sign of victory, noting that he was doing his work when all of a sudden noticed that the Woman faced changed while on queue and approached her before she revealed her condition.
  Hon.okwu stated that he was not surprised of the woman insistence that she must vote amidst pain been that Mrs. Nwopoke was a core supporter of PDP.
  He stressed that he quickly appealed to the Presiding Officer who accredited her and she voted simultaneously before she publicly announced her condition among fellow Women who took her to the local midwifery where she peacefully delivered her baby.
  The Lagos liaison Officer further hinted that irrespective of the fear in some quarter of the area due to political misunderstanding that the woman beats his imagination trekking from several Kilometres of dusty road to come cast her vote which proves ones knowledge of performing her civic responsibility and called Ebonyians to rise against negligence to ones right to duty.
However, when our reporter visited the nursing mother's home, her husband Mr.Nwopoke Paul when asked reason behind naming the child after the state governor's wife, he said that the family considered some circumstances surrounding the child's birth among the peaceful home delivery and the child be given birth to on the day of the voting.
He pointed out that his wife be a strong supporter of the ruling government and admirer of Mrs.Rachel Umahi was very glad by making the suggestion and was accepted by the whole family, stressing that he was persuaded by anybody over such decision as his family made the choice to thank God for giving Ebonyi State a mother whose interest for better life of all Ebonyians is of utmost concern.
Also speaking, the ward Organising Secretary, Mr.Okeh Fidelis thanked God for the safe delivery of the child and people of the area for their role in assisting the woman as there was no close health center but God uses those around to assist her.
On his part,Mr.Samuel Ofoke, Ndiogbaga Village Head and PDP ward Secretary, appreciated the family for showing Love to the family of first citizen of the state and called Governors wife to pay visit to her name sake as tradition demands, even as he prayed that road leading to the village should be dualized.
The nursing mother, Mrs. Nwopoke appealed that Mrs. Umahi should sink borehole in the village as they still feed the new born baby with pond water which they usually boil and allowed to cool before use.
