The Social Democratic Party SDP has condemned the Statement issued on Wednesday, 9 March 2022 by Austin Nweze Ituma on behalf of the party, revealing that he has ceased to be the chairman of the party therefore has no legal right to speak on behalf of the party.
Nweze was said to have issued an unauthorized and illegal statement in response to the Federal High Court Judgement involving the People's Democratic Party, Governor David Nweze Umahi and All Progressive Congress.
In a statement issued by its acting Chairman, Abraham Okpani revealed that Austin Ituma has been suspended from his position as chairman following his anti party activities and misconduct.
Stating "the State Working Committee of SDP Ebonyi wish so categorically condemn the purported Press Release as it is neither the view of SDP Ebonyi State nor that of the National Headquarters as Austin Nweze Ituma has since been suspended by the National Working Committee of SDP for misconduct and acts of infractions of the SDP Constitution as amended 2018.
" We further state that the said judgement of 8/03/2022 has nothing to do with the Social Democratic Party as Governor Dave Umahi did not defect to the SDP and as a respected Party, we can not get involved in the affairs of another political party.
"We therefore condemn this act of impersonation and misrepresentation against the office of the Chairman of SDP Ebonyi State and call on the Commissioner of Police and other Security Agencies in Ebonyi state for prompt intervention to forestall crisis and prenvent public violence the selfish Press Release by Austin Nweze Ituma is steering up."
"We on behalf of the entire SDP Ebonyi State apologize to the National Leadership of SDP and the Forum of State Chairmen for the embarrassment caused by Austin Nweze Ituma.
He further appreciated the National Chairman, Dr Olu Agunloye and its National Secretary Shehu Gabam for their efforts towards achieving the party's objectives and pledged continuous loyalty and dedication to the Party.
