Politics: Ebonyi People To Enjoy Positive Economic Revolution Soon, Says PDP Gubernatorial Aspirant

The biting socio-economic hardship currently being encountered by the people of Ebonyi State will soon belong to historical archives.It is a common indices in Ebonyi State that Economic activities within the state have been in comatose in the past seven years.

It is more devastating with the defection of the state Governor, Chief David Umahi to the All Progressives Congress (APC).It is as if the APC swore to unleash poverty on the citizenry, with harsh economic realities staring the masses in the face, resulting to series of youth restiveness, insecurity, crimes and banditry, with the government showing no serious concern about ameliorating the plight of the people.Despite the excruciating poverty level of the citizens of Ebonyi State, the government of the day worsens the situation with multiplicity of taxes and levies; with thugs and miscreants unleashing terror on the masses in the name of enforcing government’s directives on taxes/rents.It is in a bid to rescue Ebonyians and inhabitants of the State that a renowned democrat and chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) , Dr. Ezeh Emmanuel Ezeh has thrown his cap into the political ring to run for the plum job of Ebonyi Governorship. An Oxford trained business mogul and economic strategist, Dr. Ezeh made his intention to govern Ebonyi State during an expanded state executive council of PDP held in Abakaliki on Tuesday. Dr Ezeh assured that his administration will within 100 days in office, resolve issues that are militating against the effective take-off and operation of the moribund Nigeria cement factory (NIGERCEM), Nkalagu, to boost the economic base of the state, if elected as governor of the State. The Ebonyi Governorship hopeful noted that NIGERCEM apart from being revived, will also serve as a major driver of the industrialization policy of his administration, and will catalyze the provision of jobs for the numerous unemployed Ebonyi youths.He further disclosed that his administration would be people-oriented, where the interests of the people will be accorded priority in government policies and programs; adding that intellectuals with critical and deep thoughts for the development of the state will be given a space to contribute their quota for the overall well-being and development of Ebonyi State. Dr. Eze expressed confidence that with his vast experience spanning the Finance, Leadership Training, from one of the world elite institutions, ICT, Media, Renewable Energy and other sectors of the economy, he was fully prepared to offer good governance to Ebonyians. Dr. Ezeh stated that his leadership which would be anchored on the pillar of 3R’s:-- Recovery, Rebuilding and Restoration of Ebonyi State, will ensure that the dreams of the founding fathers of the state were actualized,. While it strive towards playing to the comparative advantage of the state in its economic policies and programmes. The PDP Chieftain poured encomiums on past administrations in the state for their efforts at developing the state; stating that his leadership will be human development oriented, which he said will be brought into play to match the dreams and visions of the present administration. He noted that Ebonyi State has been blessed with visionary leaders as the first Executive Governor; Dr. Sam Egwu built a solid foundation from which his successor, Chief Martin Elechi took off.He stressed that with the current Socio-economic challenges plaguing the state and the nation, Ebonyians need a man who can create wealth like himself to manage wealth; and urged PDP to ensure that the zoning policy is maintained in Ebonyi State to whittle down the tension around equity and zoning and to give equal participation to all facets of the state in the politics of the state.
