Ebonyi SWAN Inductes AE-FUNAI VC As Associate Member

BY NDUBUISI NWOGHA, ABAKALIKI The Vice chancellor Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo, AE-FUNAI, Prof Sunday Oge Elom on Friday, 4th March,2022 was inducted as an associate member Ebonyi Sports Writers Association.

This was followed by an award of excellence to mark his contributions to the development of sporting activities in Nigeria Universities. Professor Elom expressed his penchant for social activities especially sports and said that has demonstrated on the upcoming NUGA competition where the institution qualified for six games.

The Vice Chancellor who was represented at the event by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, professor Dennis Akoh stated that the school in engaging students in other social activities contributed to the peace the institution is currently enjoying. "The Vice Chancellor as you are aware is a first class graduate of University of Nigeria Nsukka, a thorough academic but added to that, his love for social activities especially sports has just been justified in the upcoming NUGA competition where the university will be competing in six games. "Besides sports, our students have been doing very well in social and academic activities outside of the state which is to tell you that we don't just teach them academic alone but also prepare them for the challenges ahead in the larger society. "His commitment to sporting activities has aided to the peace we are enjoying today. He promised to partner with the Sports Writers as to improve on the exercise and added that the university is ready to promoting sporting activities in the state. Earlier in his remarks, the state Chairman, Sports Writers Association, Mr Nnaji Emmanuel Anike commended the university for their active participations in various areas of sports. He added that the institution's track records in sports despite being a new school was what attracted members of the association to honour the Vice Chancellor as to encourage him to work harder. The event was witnessed by officials of the institution including the school referee, and Head of Sports among football and basketball.
