Removal Saga: 'Disregard The Judgement For It's Null, Void'--Umahi

Ebonyi State Governor, Chief David Umahi on Tuesday said that there's no provision in the law that guarantee a hatchet man to remove him as such should disregard the judgement as its null and void.
Umahi made the statement while addressing Journalists at the New Government House Centenary City, Abakaliki. He stated that there's no constitutional Provision for a governor to be removed in office,"There's no constitutional provisions for any hatchet man to remove a governor, there are three ways a governor can vacate a seat; it's either by death, resignation or by impeachment by the House of assembly. Recalled the federal High Court sitting in Abuja earlier today ordered for the removal of Ebonyi State Governor, Engr David Umahi and his Deputy over his defection from the opposition People's Democratic Party to the ruling All Progressives Congress. Accordingly to judgement presided by justice Ekwor Inyang, the court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to conduct fresh election within ninety days for PDP who stand to slot the positions. Speaking Governor Umahi, "I have listened to the judgement of Ekwor, and it's very obvious that he was on a mission. He was making effort to upturn the rulings of supreme court and appeal court on issues like this. "We have rumour before now that he was determine to make judgement against all known laws in the constitution just to embarrass APC and the federal government. "As for me, i don't feel worried but I fee very sorry for the judiciary. The judiciary and executive might have problem but the very moment justice could be purchase, then, we have problem in this country. " What happened this afternoon is a clear evidence that this country is in trouble and let me tell you that this same judge has over ten cases against Ebonyi State and you could imagine what he's going to rule. "We have petition him to NJC and i will follow it at all costs to make sure that this man is brought to justice.
He added, "I want you to disregard the judgement as it's null and void as there's subsisting judgement in Zamfara state and there's also a judgement in Ebonyi state and we have chosen the one to obey and we will not obey his ruling but we will obey a ruling from competent court of equal level that says you cannot sue a sitting Governor. "The sections of the constitution are very clear, no single criminal proceeding should be brought against the sitting governor and this is not a tribunal matter and so, he had murdered justice in this country and so he will be remembered and his generation for this jungle justice. "I am still the governor of Ebonyi State and he has no powers to remove me and let me say to the nation that there's a need to look at the Intergrity of a Judiciary in this country because if a judiciary begins to rule against a Constitutional matters that are well let down then citizens of this country may decide not to obey such jungle justice.he further emphasized.
