Verbal Attack: Izzi Youths Fume, Threaten Legal Action Against Ucha If........

Izzi Nnodo Youth Forum, a socio-cultural organization of the youth arm of Izhi speaking people in Ebonyi state has given an elder statesman and the All Progressives Congress, (APC) governorship aspirant, Senator Julius Ucha 24hrs ultimatum to provide video or audio evidence of alleged threat to his life and property by the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Francis Nwifuru or face legal action.

The youth body condemned the allegation by Senator Ucha and stated that such weighty utterance is capable of causing disaffection between Izzi people and their Ezza brothers. Recall that Senator Julius Ali Ucha was during his interaction with newsmen alleged to had accused speaker, Ebonyi state House of Assembly, Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of threatening to attack and destroy his property and that of other gubernatorial aspirants. The matching order was contained in communique duly signed by the national president, Comrade Ben Nwovu and his executives at the end of an extraordinary general meeting of the Forum in Abakaliki on Thursday, 28 April,2022.

The Communique read in parts: The attention of Izzi Nnodo Youth Forum has been drawn to a misleading, inciting, derogatory and unfortunate statement credited to Sen. Julius Ali Ucha against Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru as contained in his (Sen. Ucha’s) press briefing of 26th April, 2022. We wish to state the obvious that Izzi Nnodo Ekumenyi remains the most accommodating clan in Ebonyi State and this has been demonstrated through our socio-economic, political and cultural engagement with our brother clans and visitors/residents in our dear state. "Regrettably, we received with dismay, the unwarranted, demeaning and crisis-instigating statement by a highly respected and revered elder statesman of Ezza clan Senator Julius Ali Ucha, that a frontline All Progressive Congress (APC) gubernatorial aspirant from Izzi Land in the person of Right Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru did threatened to “launch attack on your person, your property and those of other aspirants in Ebonyi State come 2023 general election across political party divides”. We wish to unequivocally state as thus: “That we condemn in its strongest terms, such a misleading, vilifying and unverifiable claims. “That we call on our Ezza brothers (Stakeholders and youths), both at home and in diaspora, to call their son to order by retracting or publicly refuting such utterances by Distinguished Sen. Julius Ali Ucha as such may be deemed suicidal to the relationship that exists between Izzi and our brother Ezza nation. “That despite this frivolous publication, Izzi people cannot change their character of hospitality and peaceful co-existence with everyone in and around Ebonyi State. “That we are not unaware that this publication of Sen. Julius Ali Ucha and other publications incidental to it, are mere ploy to discredit Izzi 2023 gubernatorial candidacy thereby inciting the public against Izzi people irrespective of political party in order to win cheap popularity and support. “That Sen. Julius Ali Ucha and every other Ebonyian, reserves an exclusive constitutional right to aspire for any political position and this could be done without necessarily maligning the character of another. “That we hereby request you, Sen. Julius Ali Ucha, within the next 24 hours to either tender in evidence, the video clip or audio record where our dear son, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru stated that he would destroy your property and attack your person and other aspirants; and failure to do so, should tender an unreserved apology to Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and the entire Izzi Clan. In which case, should be published in both National and Local dailies. “That failure to timely comply with the items in No. 6 above, Izzi sons and daughters would be pushed to institute legal action against Sen. Julius Ali Ucha and his cohorts. “That we wish to use this medium to enjoin all Ebonyians and Nigerians at large to discountenance such cheap propaganda aimed at winning pity by Sen. Julius Ali Ucha against Izzi populace as our developmental stories can never be told without the collective contributions of the entire Ebonyians and those residents therein. “That we wish to use this ample opportunity to remind and inform everybody to jettison the speculations making round the city by some disgruntled elements that upon an Izzi man becoming the governor of Ebonyi State, that property owners and developers within and beyond the city would be denied their proprietary rights.” The Communique commended Governor David Nweze Umahi for sustaining the power rotation policy in the State and for believing in the ability of an illustrious son of Izhi, the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Francis Nwifuru to succeed him in 2023. “We appreciate most profoundly, His Excellency the father of the state and leading Nigeria Presidential aspirant, Engr. Chief David Nweze Umahi for consolidating on the mantra of Power rotation by affirming the candidacy of one of our illustrious sons who have been endorsed by the Izzi Traditional Rulers, sons and daughters of Unwu-Ekumenyi and beyond. We are resolute to your leadership ingenuity your Excellency.”
