One of the challenges that democracy has faced in the political development of Nigeria since 1999 has been the imposition of candidates for elections by influential politicians in various political parties. Among many vices that practice has generated, the viciousness, aggressiveness and violence perennially displayed by aspirants to elective offices are the worst. Politics of bitterness, rancour and acrimony, do or die has become characteristic of the business politics in Nigeria.
