The Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly and Governorship aspirant under the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC), Chief Francis Nwifuru on Monday received blessings from Izhi Traditional Rulers as he presented to them his gubernatorial expression of interest and nomination forms.
It would be recalled that the Izhi Traditional Rulers some time in April after careful analysis endorsed the Speaker as the consensus Candidate of Izhi Nnodo Clan for the Governorship of Ebonyi State and encouraged him to go into the contest ahead of 2023.
Presenting the forms to the Traditional Rulers at the Speaker’s Lodge, Abakaliki, Chief Nwifuru said he obtained the forms in obedience to the clarion call by the royal fathers.
While thanking them for finding him worthy to serve the State in the capacity of Governor, Right Honourable Nwifuru expressed hope that he would emerge victorious at the polls.
The Chairman of Izhi Traditional Rulers Council, Eze Ogbonnaya Ukwa, the Chairman of Ebonyi Local Government Area Traditional Rulers Council, Eze Sunday Oketa and Eze Emmanuel Nwojiji said the decision to endorse the Speaker was a product of spiritual inspiration and revelation and expressed optimism that Chief Francis Nwifuru was the man for the job.
The Speaker later presented the forms to the Ebonyi State Traditional Rulers Council where the Chairman, Eze Charles Mkpuma prayed fervently for the victory of Right Honourable Francis Nwifuru.
Earlier, the Speaker played host to a delegation of the Onwa Oferekpe Foundation numbering over five thousand led by the National President, Mr. Kenneth Nwovu who were in the Lodge to give the Speaker the necessary solidarity as he goes into the contest.
In his speech, Mr. Nwovu said they were in the Lodge to inform Mr. Speaker of their solidarity to his aspiration, assuring that they were disposed to supporting him until victory is achieved
