The primate and Archbishop, Christ The Light Gospel Mission International, Rev.(Prof) Philip Akam and wife had reportedly escaped bandits by whisker on their way to Abuja. Professor Akam made this known during Thanksgiving ceremony at the church parish, Abakaliki. Narrating his experience, the Archbishop hinted that they were on their way to Abuja when suspected gang of Fulani herdsmen numbering over three hundred barricaded the road.
According to him, the journey was at night with no premonition from any quarter until their vehicle alongside others found themselves at the middle of the suspected armed herders who opened fire at the vehicles, shooting sporadically on target. The primate explained that their escape was a miracle as a luxury and one other commuter buses which were ahead of them were held by the blood thirsty bandits. He narrated that all the passengers on board of those buses were seen moved into the bush. "I thank God for saving me and my amiable wife in the point of death, on Wednesday 8th June, 2022 when in pursuance of a very important matter ran into gang of suspected bandits numbering over three hundred (300) who were armed to the teeth. "Our escape was a special grace of God as the luxury bus and other commuter bus which were ahead of us were held hostage by the blood thirsty bandits with passengers on board moved into the bush. "The courage from our driver that led to our escape can only come from nowhere else than God because they opened fire on the commuters having laid ambush from two sides of the road but we are here today alive to the glory of God. Akam said.
