Group Protests Inclusion Of Umahi's Name In INEC's List

Support group identified as Nwanyibuife Campaign Organization, supporters of the embattled All Progressives Congress, (APC) Senatorial Candidate of Ebonyi South Senatorial district in Ebonyi state, Ann Agom-Eze has faulted the inclusion of Engr David Umahi as candidate of the party in the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, published list.
The group in a press statement issued by Engr Oji Ugochukwu, the Director General, Nwanyibuife Campaign Organization, Ebonyi South Senatorial Zone, and made available to Aljazirah in Abakaliki faulted INEC decision in capturing David Umahi as authentic candidate despite his case still pending at the court of Appeal.
The Campaign Director noted that the court had earlier confirmed that Umahi's name was filed on Ex-parte Order which the appellate court is yet to pass final judgement of who becomes authentic candidate of the party in the zone but called on supporters to remain calm and law abiding as they wait for the court finally judgement. "Our Dear teaming supporters across Nigeria, the great Ebonyians and the wonderful people of Ebonyi south Senatorial zone in particular. "You all may have seen the latest publication from INEC earlier today on the list of the presidential candidates and National Assembly Candidates of political parties fielding Candidates in 2023 General elections.That in the said list INEC has included the name of the Governor of Ebonyi State Engr. David Nweze Umahi as the candidate of APC for Ebonyi South Senatorial zone for 2023 elections.
"INEC equally and clearly noted that his name was included as a result of the Exparte court order he obtained from the federal high court Abakaliki that enabled him to hold the 31st July, 2022 primaries.This is not minding the substantive c The statement added, "We want to urge our supporters as law abiding citizens to remain calm, irrespective of the judicial rascality. The court is the last hope of the common man and it has the final say. Let’s patiently and hopefully await the Appeal Court judgment. "Interestingly, the matter is coming up on Monday 26/09/2022."
