TUC Elects New Leadership in Ebonyi

Trade Union Congress,(TUC) on Wednesday 7th September, 2022 elected its new executives in Ebonyi State.
The election took place in Ezekunna Town Hall, Abakaliki, the state capital.
In his opening speech, the newly elected state chairman, Comrade Igboji Chidi appreciated members for their peaceful disposition and support during the exercise.
The state chairman pledged to prioritize on member’s welfare and ensure that every one is carried along, hence, urged them to rally round the new executives as to achieve its major objectives .
Nwigboji, however, commended the electoral committee for the peaceful exercise, as well as, the decision of members to elect him as the state chairman, and promised to ensure he delivered good leadership.
Speaking, the representative of Head of Service, Dr Rita-mary Okoro,applauded the peaceful exercise and urged the new executives to work in synergy with the government.
Earlier, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Labour Matters, comrade Jennifer Adibe-Nwafor, congratulated the new executives and said government would continue to address workers’ challenges in the state to enhance their welfare.
"When I resumed office, the first thing I did was to ask Labour leaders to put in black and white their challenges among which was, promotion of civil servants 2019-2021, minimum wage, conversion and advancement.
" So, I took this to His Excellency and I can beat my chest to say that those things have been addressed".
"The workers can attest that their 2019,2020, and 2021 promotions have been paid and it has been implemented.
She further emphasized that the state governor has approved for the conversion and advancement of workers who are due for the positions.
She also enjoined the union members to always employ diplomacy in their demands as the state governor is ever ready to address every issue concern its worker.
Meanwhile, the state treasurer of the council, comrade Igwe James Samanja, equally promised to work with other members to ensure the progress of the union and commended their peaceful nature in the state.
The newly elected executives are: comrade Igboji Chidi (chairman), Ajah Kelechi (vice chairman), Nwogbodo Vincent (secretary), Nwokpo Samson (Asst. secretary) Igwe James Samanja (Treasurer), Nwaji Sunday (Financial secretary) Chinedu Unata (P.R.O) and Eke Theodore as (Auditor) respectively.
