By Nwogha Ndubuisi Abakaliki
Ebonyi State Government have exonerated the south East Security outfit 'Ebubeagu' of alleged attack on the convoy of APGA gubernatorial candidate for Ebonyi State, Prof Ben Odoh, describing those linking Ebubeagu to the act as ill-informed and enemy of the people.
This was made known during a joint press briefing with the commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Barr. Uchenna Orji and Special Security Consultant to the state Government, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, in Abakaliki.
They revealed that Security Agencies are working round the clock to nip in the bud activities of criminal elements in the State, denied insinuations that the Ebonyi State Government was behind the attack.
He enjoined APGA and other opposition political parties in the State to desist from attributing every misfortune to APC in order not to further heighten tension in the polity.
“We have continued to give them the necessary environment as a Government to showcase what they have for the people but unfortunately they have got nothing to show, they have failed because they can not tell the people what the people will like to hear.
“Our duty is to ensure that lives and property are secured in Ebonyi State especially at this time that we are faced with security challenges in the Nation.”
The Special Security Consultant to the State Government, Chief Emegha advised APGA and other opposition political parties to desist from playing politics with human lives.
“Professor Odoh is becoming too desperate, he should know that if he doesn’t become the Governor, Ebonyi State will still move on.
“Let us always know that come what may, we are from Ebonyi and no matter what you become tomorrow it is tenured and the moment the tenure is expired you leave the office.”
He however, condemned in strong terms the alleged attack on the Convoy of Professor Benard Odo by mindless armed men, urging everyone to be security concious and give vital information to the security agencies to enable them serve the people better as security is a collective tasks of all.
Recall that the Convoy of the gubernatorial candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) was on Wednesday night attacked at Ishielu local Government council while returning from campaign rally which led to the death of his driver with many sustaining bullet wound.
