The Labour Party, (LP) governorship candidate in Ebonyi state, Sir Edward Nkwegu has expressed his willingness to invest more in retirees if emerged as the Chief Servant of the state on the 11th March governorship poll. Nkwegu made the statement during an interactive section of the Association of Retirees in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State and noted that his overall priority would emphasize more on retirees' welfare.
According to him, "I will run an open door policy, I will make sure that retirees get their monthly payment as at when due. I am a child of God and I know what our father and mother are suffering after active service and these are what I have vowed to terminate. Your monthly gratuity and pension cannot be stopped," he declared. He, however, urged the people to vote massively for the Labour Party candidates beginning from the Presidential candidate, Peter Obi and the National Assembly Candidates of the party on Saturday's poll and subsequently on March 11, when the guber and State House of Assembly elections would be held. Responding, the Chairman of the Association of the Retirees in Ohaukwu LGA, Mr John Ebenyi urged the gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party to keep to his promises when he assumed office as the Governor of the state while assuring him of total support at the poll.
He called his fellow retirees to pledge their support and massive votes for Edward Nkwegu and all other LP candidates at the 2023 polls. Recall that the event recorded massive turnouts of the Obi-Diatti supporters across the Council Area who were drumming support for the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, the state LP governorship candidate, Architect Edward Nkwegu and other candidates of the party in the state.
