NGO partners media practitioners in promotion of women in politics

In their move to promoting women participation in Nigeria politics, a Non Governmental Organization,Women Situation Room Nigeria,WSRN, has called on Media practitioners to intensify effort in gender balance reportage as to encourage women in the Country's politics. Ebonyi state Coordinator,Mrs Nwafor Lorrietha made the call during the one day training tagged" Training of media personnel on effective media sensitive reporting and to strengthen understanding of the dynamics of SGBV and all forms of VAW especially in elections'.
The State Coordinator noted that women participation in the country's politics became imperative as to enable them explore their gift in societal development. Nwafor while emphasizing the leadership potentials exhibits by women noted that many of their folks have proven that they're good managers of public resources.
She described media as a veritable tool in projecting women in leadership and urged media practitioners in Ebonyi state to strengthen their professional support in encouraging them into the vocation. On his part, Mr Sylvester Ndolo, General Manager, Radio Nigeria, Unity FM, Abakaliki called on gender based Non Governmental Organizations to implore more resources in sensitizing the women folks in their rightful place in the country's politics. Ndolo who emphasized that women have practically shown interest in every political activities in both electioneering campaign and voting than men, enjoined the group to educate them on leveraging on the strength to taking over power.
