Action Alliance, Ebonyi governorship candidate, Engr Chukwuma Nwandugo debunked rumour of his defection to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
This is as contained in a statement issued and signed by the party candidate on Monday.
The frontline governorship candidate described the rumour as a handiwork of desperate politicians and bootlickers who are bent on spreading false information as to attract sympathy.
The statement reads in part:
" Attention of Engr Chukwuma Nwandugo Campaign Organization has been drawn to the rumours making the rounds that the Governorship candidate of Action Alliance, Ebonyi State, Engr Chukwuma Nwandugo has defected to the People's Democratic Party ahead of the forthcoming Governorship election in the state.
"Indeed, there is no iota of truth in the said rumours.
It is nothing but fake news and a joke taken too far by desperate politicians and their bootlickers to deceive members of the public and our army of party faithful.
It added, "It is a propaganda also fabricated by rumour mongers and their paymasters to create tension, and unnecessary distractions in the ranks of teeming Action Alliance supporters in the state ahead of the forthcoming elections.
"The masterminds of the fake news and its peddlers are only afraid of the huge support base of Engr Nwandugo across the state.
"Ordinarily, the Campaign Organization would have overlooked the rumours but for the sake of those who may not understand the gimmicks and antics of these sinking power seekers, we wish to put up this Release.
"As a matter of fact, Engr Chukwuma Nwandugo is still the Governorship candidate of Action Alliance, Ebonyi State for the 11th March, 2023 Governorship election.
He never defected to any political party and has no intention to do so for any reason whatsoever.
"All our party members, supporters and members of the public are hereby urged to disregard the rumours as it is nothing but fake and self-serving strategy deliberately designed by desperate power seekers to distract our candidate and his supporters.
Meanwhile, he remains very focused on his campaign and committed to winning the forthcoming Governorship election in the state.
"We therefore appeal to Ebonyians and other residents of our dear state to support Engr Chukwuma Nwandugo and Action Alliance by voting massively for him and other candidates of the party to rescue the state from bad leadership.
"If voted to become the next Governor of the state, Engr Nwandugo will operate an inclusive administration, ensure respect for rule of law and all round development of the state.
"A vote for Action Alliance and Engr Chukwuma Nwandugo is a vote for good governance, peace, unity and overall development of the state.
