Polls:Umuekumenyi Insists On Power Rotation, Adopts APC Guber Candidate

Ahead of the governorship and state House of Assembly elections, a socio-cultural group identified as the people of Umuekumenyi have Thursday, 16th March, 2023, adopted the APC Gubernatorial Candidate, Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru as their consensus candidate in the 18th March general elections. The adoption was followed by the motion moved by the Leader, Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Hon. Victor Chukwu as seconded by the Senator elect, Ebonyi North Senatorial zone, Barr. Onyekachi Nwebonyi before putting it into voting by elder Boniface Chima. The communique which was based on charter of equity in rotation of key political positions in Ebonyi State in line with the vision and aspirations of the founding fathers of the state was read to the hearing of the governorship candidate and the members of the public by Prof. Eugene Nweke. In his vote of thanks, the Speaker, Ebonyi State House of Assembly and APC Governorship Candidate,Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru thanked the people of Umuekumenyi for considering him worthy to hold the people's mandate, and promised to work for the unity and development of the entire state. Nwifuru however acknowledged the onerous tasks involved in governorship position, and reiterated his readiness to toe the path of equity as contained in the charter of demands, under which he is contesting. He further encouraged the people of Umuekumenyi and the entire Ebonyians to always advice him whenever the need arises and to work with him for more developmental strides to be achieved in Ebonyi State.

He appreciated the elderly role played by the State Governor, Engr. David Umahi, the former Senate president and Secretary of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim and other political Stalwarts and the entire people of Ebonyi South Senatorial zone for their show of love and support in the equity mantra and appealed to those yet to join him to do so, in the interest of the entire state. Meanwhile, the council Chairmen of Ebonyi LGA, Barr Chinedu Uburu, the Ikwo , Ezza South and Ishielu counterparts pledged landslide victory for entire Candidates of APC in Saturday's election in their areas.

Others who spoke including Chief Chibuike Orogwu (A.K.A BabayOku), Professor Francis Idike, former Vice Chancellor, Ebonyi State University,EBSU, Hon Uche Ega-ali, national president Umuekumenyi youth leaders appealed to opposition party candidates to unite in delivering a single candidature of the APC governorship candidate, Chief Francis Nwifuru for the interest of Abakaliki bloc and development of the state. The meeting was in attendance by the elders, stakeholders business tycoons, academics, political class, traditional rulers, clergy and other category of people that make up Umuekumenyi bloc.
