By Nwogha Ndubuisi, Abakaliki
The leadership of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) has suspended indefinitely the Ebonyi gubernatorial candidate, Mr Adol Awam Chris from the party over alleged anti-party and insubordination activities during the just concluded elections in the State
. Reading the suspension note before the journalists in Abakaliki, the NNPP Secretary of Echiaba ward in Ebonyi LGA, Ani Izuchukwu, said the party leadership in the area decided to suspend Adol Awam after a careful examination of his conduct during the elections. According to him, "We equivocally condemn the anti-party activities of the gubernatorial candidate, Prophet Dr Adol Awam Chris; the worst of his conducts was his open campaign against our Presidential Candidate, Senator Dr Rabi'u Musa Kwankwaso in the favour of the Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Mr Peter Obi, even on presidential election day. "As that was not enough, Prophet Dr Adol Awam Chris met secretly with the Stakeholders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and later accepted collapsing his structure as the Ebonyi gubernatorial candidate of the NNPP to the ruling party, leaving the NNPP faithful hopeless and frustrated in the state. "That upon his anti-party and insubordination activities, we regret to hear that the so-called Prophet Dr Adol Awam Chris beat black and blues, the Ebonyi State Chairman of the NNPP, Hon Chukwu Solomon and the Ebonyi State Coordinator of the Kwankwaso Presidential Campaign Council, Hon James Nwite, among other Stakeholders of our party who had a raw deal in the hands of Adol Awam just because we gave him the mandate to be our gubernatorial candidate.
"We, therefore, suspend Prophet Dr Adol Awam Chris indefinitely as a member of NNPP and we urge the general public to take note of this information, as our party officials both at the State and National levels have been communicated appropriately, before this resolution. "That henceforth, any of our members associating with the said Prophet Adol Awam Chris will be treated as same, and we are aware of his false claims in his purported press briefing in the recent time after the general elections in Ebonyi State, just to win unmerited popularity." The NNP Secretary expressed the party's gratitude to its focused and committed members who despite several intimidations, harassment, attacks and sundry inhuman actions meted out to them during the 2023 election activities, remained courageous to be active players of the party movements in their ward and the state at large. However, he disclosed that the NNPP members in the Echiaba Ward, have also passed a vote of confidence on Hon Solomon Chukwu, the Chairman of the NNPP in Ebonyi State over his transparency and competence in piloting the party's affairs, especially during the electioneering period. Recall that the party officials who signed Adol Awam's suspension letter included Echiaba Ward Chairman - Chinedu Ofoke, Vice Chairman - Eluu Okechukwu, Secretary -Ani Izuchukwu, Achu Okechukwu - Treasurer, Ndubisi Stanley - Organising Secretary and Uche Nnajiofor. Others were the Publicity Secretary - Chijioke Okechukwu, Youth Leader -Richard Okechukwu, Welfare Secretary - Akpa Chigozie, Legal Adviser - Otta Chibueze, Auditor - Francis Nwambeke, Chukwu Samson - Financial Secretary, Juliana Nwogha - Representative for the Corporate body. When contacted, the State NNPP chairman, Hon Solomon Chukwu confirmed that the indefinite suspension of Adol Awarm by his ward members has been acknowledged by the party leadership both at the State and national levels. Chukwu recalled that Adol Awam allegedly mobilised his political thugs to beat him and later on 15th March 2023, threatened to kill him and use his corpse for sacrifice for no just reason. Reacting on phone calls, Adol Awam described his suspension as a watery attempt by a few members of the NNPP who wanted to destroy the future of the party leadership in his state. He told our correspondent that the greater members of the NNPP in Ebonyi had filed a suspension letter against the party's State Chairman, Solomon Chukwu, heading for Abuja on Tuesday to perfect the move with the National leadership of the party.
