Ebonyi Assembly Screens, Confirms UBEB's Chairman, Others

From Nwogha Ndubuisi, Abakaliki

Sequel to the nomination of the Chairman and members of Universal Basic Education Board,(UBEB) by the state governor, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, Ebonyi State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed the newly appointees. The event which took place at State legislative Chambers, Nkaliki had in attendance the members of 7th Assembly.

Those Screened and Confirmed includes; Rt Hon Patience Ogodo_Chairman,Barr Samuel Okoronkwo__Member One, Mr Chijoke Nwuzor-Member Two, Rt Hon Julius Nwokpor, Dr Livinus Ezeuwa__Secretary. Others are, Chief Offor Okorie __Civil Society Organization/ NGO, Comrade Francis Ekech ,-Representative, Mrs Virginia Oketa _Representative of women.

Speaking Shortly after the screening, the Speaker, Hon Moses Ije Odunwa stated that the nominees of the Governor for the position of the Chairman and its Members consisted professionals in educational industry and expressed optimism that their impact as seasoned educationist would meet the expectation upon which they were called to serve. He, thereafter instructed the clerk Mrs. Patricia Anasi to make a memo informing Goverrnor Nwifuru about the successful Screening and Confirmation of his nominees.

Earlier, while answering questions from Members of the house on how he would reposition public schools in the State the Secretary of the Board, Dr. Livinus Ezeuwa explained that sensitization of both the parents and education managers together with their post training would form his watch word when confirmed. He maintained that public schools in the state would be revived with the current zest of the present administration under Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru coupled with the cream of Professionals engaged for the work and reassured of deploying his wealth of experience into education system to bring about a positive change in the State's public education.
