Ebonyi Governor's Cup Football Competition Kicks off 29 July

In their efforts to build a formidable state football team, the Ebonyi state Commissioner for Youths Development and Sports, Prince Richard Ugo Idike has officially flagged off Governor's Cup football competition. Performing the exercise at Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, Abakaliki on Tuesday 11th July,2023 Prince Richard Idike announced that the football competition which would be participated by the 13LGAs team would take off on 29th July and charged officials to live up to expectations.
The Sports Commissioner, Prince Idike commended Ebonyi governor, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for his plans to revive the sporting sector in the state. He appreciated the immediate past administration for the gigantic facilities installed in the township stadium with special regards to the past Commissioner for Health, Dr Umezurike through which the project was executed. Prince Idike also innugurated the governor's football cup competition committee with a charge to be diligent and proactive in the given assignment while maintaining transparency and credibility in their formation of teams.
Earlier, the governor's cup committee chairman, and the Ministry 's Director of , Mr Emma Otobo, applauded the state governor for placing priority in sports and pledged to ensure that the given mandate is delivered accordingly.
The event was witnessed by Senior Special Assistant to the governor on youths and Sports, Hon Pius Nwankwo while the competition rules and regulations was presented to all participants.
