NYSC: Non Payment of Stipend forced 'Corps Doctors' out of Ebonyi ~ Coordinator

Ebonyi state Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps, NYSC Mrs Nasamu Olayinka Diana has explained that 'Corps doctors' sent to the state in the recent past redeployed for other state due to non payment of stipend. The State Coordinator, made the revelation during familiarization visit to the State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Hon Richard Ugo Idike at the Centenary City, Abakaliki.

Olayinka who reiterated their readiness to work with the new administration applauded Ebonyi state government for their continuous support, and appealed for more synergy to enable them fulfil the scheme's mandate in the state. She noted that Corps members sent to Ebonyi state especially the doctors redeployed to other states in what suspected to be as a result of non payment of stipend and urge the new administration to urgently address such issue as the medical doctors do alot in terms of community health development. Olayinka applauded the former state governor for giving the state one of the best Secretariat in the country, but noted that the orientation camp is yet to have electricity, while their roofs are having leakage, hence, the state Boss has no accommodation and mobility for smooth running of office jobs

Responding, the state Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Hon Idike noted that NYSC is a scheme meant for national integration, and assured them of adequate support and collaboration to help improve their welfare. The Commissioner who described the state governor, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru as a youth friendly leader stated that all the issues affecting smooth running of the scheme in the state would be properly tackled.

He promised the state Coordinator and team of quick intervention and maintained that all the areas that needed urgent attention would be handled immediately for the interest of the expectant batches. Meanwhile, the state Coordinator, Mrs Olayinka was accompanied by the staff and board members of National Youths Service Corps, as event witnessed by Special Assistant to Ebonyi state Governor on Youths and Sports, Hon Pius Nwankwo, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry,Engr Ojiogu among others.
