Boundary:Ebonyi, Cross River Youth Peace Movement To Celebrate 5 Year Ceased Fire

Members of Ebonyi and Cross River Youths Peace Development Movement has announced their plan of celebrating five years of cease fire at the border communities of both states. The leadership made this known Tuesday 28th August,2023 when Executive Chairman Abakaliki LGA, Hon Ebere Nwogba host them on courtesy visit at Nkaliki, Council's headquarters. Addressing them, Hon Ebere Nwogba commended the group for their contributions in sustaining the peace accord at the border communities and described the devastating effect of the war as bad omen.
The Council chairman recounted contributions of the group to championing peace in the area and challenged them not to relent in the promotion of unity and peace as nothing is worth in exchange for peace. Nwogba also cautioned border communities never to rise against each other and promised of continuous support to ensure that the already existing peace is sustained in the areas. He tasked the group to extend their partnership to all the affected Local Government Chairmen as a way to fostering unity and trust among the people.
The president Ebonyi and Cross River Youth Peace Development Movement, Barr. Pascal Nwenyi appreciated members for not compromising the collective interest since the five years of cease fire at the border areas of both states. Barrister Nwenyi appreciated the Council chairman, Hon Nwogba for his contributions when he was development center Coordinator and stakeholders at the border communities in sustaining the peace pact and added that the traditional peace resolution methodology has ender them national and international recommendations. Earlier, the permanent Secretary Ministry of Power and Energy, Mr Chukwuma Ojeogu who's also member of the group eulogized members for their efforts and described group as pillar through which the collective peace achieved in the border communities. Ojeogu, however appealed to members to strive to ensure that they live life of legacies by making sure the group remains ambassadors of peace in their various communities. Others who lend their voices includes, vice president,Lucky Okpeche, Hon Dicklan Ovuna,Osama Anthony and Ndubuisi Ugbodo,youth president Okpuitumo community who thanked the Ebonyi state government for youth inclusiveness in governance and appealed to the governor, Chief Francis Nwifuru not to relent in brokering peace in all corners of the state. Also present in the meeting are the representatives of the six affected Local Government Area among Igbeagu autonomous community, Ikwo, Iyala, Obubra, Izzi, Abakaliki, and Abi who all pledged their continuous support to ensure the sustenance of peace in the zones.
