Ebonyi Govt Empowers 500 indigenes with 2m each

The Ebonyi state government has empowered 500 Ebonyians with Two Million Naira each. Flagging off the Empowerment Programme at Centenary City, Abakaliki, the Governor of Ebonyi State,Rt Hon. Francis Nwifuru stressed that the fund would help the beneficiaries in their businesses so as to put food on their tables. Nwifuru noted that the People's Charter of Needs of his administration centred on performance management and appreciated the leaders for supporting his administration, especially in the area of youth empowerment.
He presented a Cheque of Two Billion Naira to the Chairman of the empowerment committee, Chief Elechi Elechi. Earlier, in a welcome address, the Chairman of the Empowerment Committee, Chief Elechi Elechi described the flag off ceremony as a milestone in the avowed determination and commitment of the Governor's people oriented administration to liberate the Sons and Daughters of the state Hawking in the streets of Lagos, Abuja, PortHarcourt,Onitsha and Aba from poverty.
He stated that with this laudable programme, young men and women from the state hawking in major cities in Nigeria would pull them out to become self reliant and self sufficient as they would be trained in various lines of businesses.
He, however, congratulated the first batch of 500 beneficiaries of the programme, and committed them in prayers to make the judicious use of the fund to become employers of labour. Other stakeholders who spoke including the Chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha and the state Chairman of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Chief Moses Ogodoali Nomeh noted that through the empowerment, the Governor has positively touched all families in the state.
