Ebonyi controversial social media influencer, Mr Nwoba Chika Nwoba has bashed Nollywood celebrities of constantly seeking for financial support whenever they're faced with challenge of life. Nwoba who's also Publicity Secretary of the People's Democratic Party, PDP in Ebonyi said that the Nollywood celebrities among those of South East origin have made mockery of their fame recently begging for money in the public.
He said: "Why is it only the entertainers from the South East of Nigeria that come public to beg for financial assistance to either offset hospital bills or to feed? When does the tag of the zone as the richest zone in Nigeria manifest? Are we really rich? Do we actually have carriage as we claim to have? He called on the celebrities to desist from being lazy by engaging in other businesses outside their acting career like their skit maker counterparts.
"Film celebrities should stop being lazy and dependent on their status as screen icons. They should find something doing outside acting. These guys hardly assist people in need, but will want themselves assisted. They don't keep friendship. Everything is money to them. They don't give free services even to those close to them. They always like to be paid for everything. "Popularity without money is burdensome. This is why it's important to start opening businesses once you are becoming popular. It's better people give you at will, not under compulsion. Only in the skit industry that you find members opening businesses, unlike in Nollywood. Fame is embarrassed once the bearer starts begging alms in public. The glory is no longer there. The easiest way to avoid such an occurrence is for celebrities to stop having entitlement mentality and start investing into businesses. They feel too entitled to public funds. They're stingy and selfish. They don't participate in the activities of their communities. They hardly assist their family members. They alienate themselves from their communities." Nwoba advised
