2023: IFA vows to sanction foreign player

By Nwogha Ndubuisi Andy, Abakaliki Following the rules guilding the ongoing 2023 Izzi Football Association, (IFA) super league, the management has reiterated their readiness to kick off semi final on Sunday 17th December,2023. However, the Local Organizing Committee chairman, George Iboko warned all the teams never to play with foreign player as a defaulter would be made to face wrath of the law.
The Local Organizing Committee chairman was reacting after the walk over match between Ekumenyi DC and Enyida DC which was in favour of Ekumenyi DC as the opponent team reported late at the venue of the match. In a similar development, Abakaliki DC beats Amachi DC with one goal after ninety minutes struggle that bring into conclusion quarter final for the season.
The Chairman,Iboko explained that the first leg of the quarter final was in favour of Igbeagu DC that defeated Nnodo DC with five goals, while Ebonyi DC defeated Echiaba DC with 4-3 on penalty. He debunked the speculation that the officials are working in favour of some team emphasizing that such claim is watery knowing that the walk over that favoured Ekumenyi DC was self explanatory as IFA's officials earlier in the opening of the season explained to teams and their coaches rules and regulations guilding the league especially as it concerns time management in football competition. He encouraged team going to participate in the semi final to endeavor to honour the time of their match, while assuring players that the officials would remain professional and neutral in delivering given mandate. In an interview, the captain of Abakaliki Development Center,Nwugo Chikezie and middle fielder, Nwovu Benson commended Ebonyi state governor, Rt Hon Francis Nwifuru for supporting the year's league adding that the football has helped in uniting the youth and prayed that participating players are selected to form state football team.
