Christmas: Ebonyi First Lady Fetes With Children,Warns Against Child Abuse

The wife of the executive governor of Ebonyi, Chief Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Nwifuru today,10th December,2023 organized Christmas party to celebrate with children of the state. 

Addressing the visibly elated children at Unity FM, event center Abakaliki the wife of the governor, Mrs Nwifuru charged them to be law abiding.

The governor's wife represented at the event by state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Felicia Nwankpuma enjoined parents to shun child labour while encouraging them to give their children equal treatment with maids.

"If you treat a maid with careless abandon because she's not your child before your biological children, know it that you are raising sons and daughters that will end up being a future threat to the society.

"So, I encourage you children to attend to your house chores and timely, report anybody matreating maid to your parents so that they'll invite Government for such child's rescue.

"If your parents use the maid in your house to do all chores, washing of plates, clothes, cooking and other hard Labour as a way to punish her, advise your mum to stop such matreatment as the present government is ready to arrest and prosecute any parents found culpable of such crime.she said

Mrs Nwifuru called on children to see Christmas as a moment of merry and to meet with family members and old friends.

"As we gather today, let's take the moment to appreciate a unique spirit of Christmas that exists in our wonderful Community, Ebonyi state.

"We're known for our sense of warm hospitality and sense of togetherness, and these qualities shine even brighter during Christmas.

"Christmas is a time we come together as a families to celebrate and share joy and laughter, and in Ebonyi state,we have a special tradition that makes Christmas unique, from vibrant decorations that's adored in our homes.

"May this Christmas be a time of joyfulness, love and togetherness as you embrace the unique beauty of our community, share the spirit of Christmas with everyone and may the festive fill your heart with happiness."

Earlier, the general manager, Unity FM, Radio Nigeria, Mr Sylvester Ndolo appreciated wife of the governor for celebrating with Ebonyi children and urged them to remain ambassadors of the state.

He appealed to the governor's wife to assist the station with some equipments including laptops, Air Conditioners and generator as to boost their work and increase productivity.

Also, chairperson of Ezza South,Mrs Chinwendu Igwe commended wife of the governor, Mrs Nwifuru for bringing children from the 13-LGAs and Development Centers together and described the event as a show of love.

The Chairperson while applauding the children for their wonderful performances, appealed to mothers to continue supporting governor Nwifuru's wife as to enable her achieve the pet projects.

Lending his voice, one of the parents, Pastor Elijah Ekenedirichukwu, minister in charge of Omega Fire Ministry Abakaliki, thanked the organizer for giving the children sense of unity and appeal for its annual sustainance.
