Ebonyi Bye-Election: Votes not captured by BVAS will not count~INEC National Commissioner

The National commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Kenneth Ukeagu has stated that any vote that is not captured in the BVAS would not count.
Ukeagu made the clarification while speaking with newsmen at the Afikpo North LGA headquarters, collation centre for the Ebonyi South senatorial zone bye-election. The national Commissioner called on the contestants of various political Parties participating in the bye-election to maintain peace and order during the exercise. "With regards to this bye-election, we have actually cooperated with the provisions, I think the process is ongoing, and very soon, we will declare the winner. "At the end, I want to appeal to the contestants, and whatever is the overcome, they should embrace peace" he said. Speaking on the alleged bypass of BVAS by agents during accreditation and voting in some polling unit, especially in Ohaozara and Afikpo North LGAs, he said that the commission would apply the rules involved in BVAS as stipulated by the law. "Accordingly, we have our rules and guidelines with regards to the use of BVAS in the election. And in all election, we applied the rules and guidelines, and if there such cases that it wasn't used, the rules will be applied appropriately.he further emphasized.
