EBSALDA unveils plan to eradicate hunger, food insecurity in Ebonyi

Ebonyi State Agricultural Land Development Authority Board chairman, Mrs Enekwachi-Akpa Lovette Chidinma has reiterated the board's readiness to eradicate hunger and unlock the rural economy through identifying opportunities in agro industry.
The chairman made the disclosure during official maiden meeting of board members at Ochudo Centenary City, Abakaliki.
Enekwachi-Akpa who explained that the state is blessed with vast arable land and boost as producer of best rice in the country in terms of taste and nutrients stated that the issue of food insecurity would soon be a thing of the past in the country.
She stated that plans are on ground to reach out to true farmers at the rural communities where their farms would be accessed and those who are facing any challenge would be proffers solutions as to address food insecurity in the state.
According to her, "Our dear state has always been known for Agricultural practices, ranging from arable lands across the state and her energetic people who’s dreams have been to first make food available to their families and their entire neighborhood.
"It is evident enough that our state till date produces the best rice here in the country in terms of taste and nutrients.
"In the past few years , food insecurity have been a challenge to our dear nation, and I think it is time for us to rise up as a people, take advantage of the productive land we have been blessed with and salvage the situation.
"We will definitely work hand in hand with The Hon Commissioner for Agriculture to get directly to our local farmers across the state, get to hear once more from them what their current challenges are and start dishing out solutions immediately as the Lord gives us grace.
"We all know it won't be an easy ride but for the sake of the good people of our dear state and the trust placed on us by our dear Governor we will try to put in 100% effort.
"I am always open to your suggestions as we are all together in this journey.
And also encourage mutual respect for each and every member of the board". Enekwachi-Akpa said
On his part, the executive secretary of the board, Hon Maxwell Nwali, challenged members to rise up to the expectations of the governor as to make the state a practical food basket of nation.
The Secretary, Nwali who expressed confidence on the antecedents of those appointed as members of the board, maintained optimistic that they would deliver given mandate in line with the governor's people charter of
needs mantra.
