Ewa Emerges National President As Ikwo Noyo Media Practitioners Elects New Executives
A veteran journalist, Mr Ewa Nworie of Government House Press Unit have been elected the national President of Association of Ikwo Noyo Media Practitioners.
This followed the expiration of the tenure of the past executives led by comrade Samuel Nwanchor.
Declaring the result,the electoral chairman,Comrade Jacob Ogodo,former chairman,NUJ Correspondents' Chapel, announced that Mr Ewa having satisfied the requirements of the law polled the highest votes to defeat his close rival, Esther Orogbo of Unity FM, Abakaliki.
The position of President which was keenly contested by Mr Ewa and Mrs Orogbo, also saw Onyebuchi Igbo of EBBC returned unoppsed as secretary while Chidima Imo-Eze of the Voice Newspaper emerged Treasurer.
Others elected are: Mr Jude Usang, of EBBC,Vice President,and Mr Chibueze Mkpuruchi,EBBC, Publicity Secretary among others.
In his acceptance speech,the newly elected national President, Mr Ewa Nworie,thanked members for conducting free and fair election which led to his emergence as national President.
He particularly thanked the out gone national president,comrade Nwanchor for his immense contribution to the growth of the Association.
Also, thanked Comrade Isreal Ekene Mbam,foundation national president of the Association, Mrs Nkechi Oginyi, chairman, National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ),Ebonyi state chapter, and comrade Nnenna Oshibe, the Chief Press Secretary to the wife of the governor for making out time to come and cast their votes.
Ewa assured members that his administration would take the Association to greater height.
Earlier, the outgoing national president,comrade Nwanchor had thanked members for their cooperation,dedication and commitments that led to the success of his administration and urged them to extend same to the new leadership of the Association.
