Ebonyi first lady flags off BERWO programme in North East

Wife of Ebonyi State Governor, Mrs Mary-Maudline Nwifuru has flagged off her pet project, Better Health for Rural Women Children and Internally Displaced (BERWO) and commended member representing Ebonyi North East Constituency in the state House of Assembly,Mrs Chinyere Nwogbaga for her unprecedented developmental strides. She made the commendation at Okpaugwu Abakaliki during empowerment of Indigent women and the flag off of the Rural Women Health Scheme Enrollment Programme organized by Mrs Nwogbaga.
The Wife of the Governor who was represented by state team lead by Mrs Nkechi Echiagu highlighted the strength and influence the development has in the continuous existence of humanity adding that it was benevolence and kindness that prompted the organizer of the event,Mrs Nwogbaga to think of how best to make her constituents happy and feel loved. She used the occasion to reveal that her office has intesfied efforts to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates in the state which was on high rate by enrolling woman and child into Ebonyi State Health Insurance Scheme.
Earlier, the lawmaker, Hon Nwogbaga pledged to continue to advocate for the welfare of the indigent and less privileged persons in her constituency. She noted that the programme was spurred to lend the helping hand by the leadership examples of the state Governor, Francis Nwifuru and wife who have demonstrated unequalled passion in ameliorating the suffering of the people and in appreciation of the support of her constituents. Also, the Deputy Speaker, Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Comrade Chinedu Onah described Hon Nwogbaga as a known vocal member of the seventh Assembly who take pleasure in assisting the needy and pledged the support of the Assembly in all her endeavours.
In a remark, the Chairman of the Occasion, Dr Linda Alo said the activities of the lawmaker has been monitored and discovered to reflect the expectations and yearnings of the people and thanked Hon Nwogbaga whom she described as limitless philanthropist. However, the Chairman of Ebonyi Local Government Area, Hon Chinedu Uburu, the Commissioner for Human Capital Development, Mrs Ann Aligwe, Chairman Universal Basic Education Boards, Mrs Patience Ogodo and the representative of Ebonyi State Health Insurance Scheme, Mrs Juliet Offor thanked the host for leading by example and enjoined beneficiaries especially the students to make the best use of the rare privilege. The event which was used to empower fifty indigent women, enrollment of one hundred elderly persons and payment of one million naira, school fees for ten higher institution students across the seven political wards of Ebonyi North East State Constituency also witnessed the assemblage of Stakeholders from the area and some members of Ebonyi State House of Assembly.
