Ebonyi Govt announces mandatory use of new national anthem in schools

Ebonyi State government has called on private and public institutions to adopt the use of the new national anthem on their daily activities as to familiarize the anthem.
The Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Engr Jude Chikadibia Okpor in collaboration with Commissioner for Education, Prof Paul Nwobashi made the call in Abakaliki, Ebonyi state.
The Commissioners who embarked on state wide inspection to know level of compliance of the new national anthem called on proprietors and principals of different schools to make the anthem mandatory for pupils and students.

"We're all aware of the new national anthem, and His Excellency, Bldr Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has deemed if fit and asked us to go round both public and all schools in the state to sensitize the students on the need to imbibe the letters and content of the new national anthem
"And one thing that's dear to my heart about this new national anthem is the sense of pride and patriotism that shows while reciting the anthem.
"Even when we can say that nothing is wrong with the old anthem, but going through the lyrics of the new national Anthem line by line sends a strong message starting from the first stanza to the last stanza.
"From what we have seen, the pupils are getting use to the new national Anthem and we hope to see it in all schools in Ebonyi" Okpor said
The state Commissioner for Education, Prof Paul Nwobashi who encouraged teachers to support the slow learners enjoined the students to make the learning of the anthem as part of their daily activities.
Nwobashi who said the ongoing administration inherited some of the necessities needed in public schools equally promised that schools lacking basic learning materials would get them as soon possible as government is making efforts to make those things available in the next section.
The team visited Abakaliki High School Presco, Ezza road primary school 1, and White Cloud School in Abakaliki.
