NGO Empowers Law School Students In Ebonyi

Women group cutting across every sphere of life under the auspices of “Inner Wheel District 914, Nigerian International” on Monday 22nd July, 2024 assisted a law graduate, Mr. Williams Omaka with a cheque of N250,000 in Abakaliki.
Addressing newsmen, the District Chairman and Commissioner for Budget, Planning, Research and Monitoring, Ebonyi State,Mrs Deborah Chinwe Okah said that the organization was meant to foster friendship and provide humanitarian services globally.
According her, the organization comprising the wives of the Rotarians and some sisters of the members of Inner Wheel is existing in one hundred countries of the world.
“It was on May, 2024 that the organization celebrated its hundred years of existence at its headquarters in Manchester City, United Kingdom with over 4,000 delegates, so it is meant for women of integrity and the people with the spirit of giving” she said.
We learnt that the Inner Wheel District 914 covers 14 clubs in some cities of South East and South-South geo-political zones while both the chairmen and the president have a single tenure of one year respectively.
She appealed for the resilience of the members for them to achieve their collective goal and advised the beneficiary to make judicious use of the assistance.
Past District Chairman, Mrs. Rose Ezeadikwa said that initially, the membership was for the wives of the Rotarians but after they began to face dwindling membership, it was thrown open to the sisters of both the Inner Wheel members and the Rotarians.
“Based on the concept, people with like minds started coming and we have been affecting lives positively in diverse ways as payment of hospital bills, empowering girl-child with skill acquisition and start-up kits and many more” she explained.
She further said that the group renders assistance without discrimination provided there is genuineness in the requests of the help seekers stressings that there are presently four clubs in Abakaliki and urged Mr. Omaka to use the token for his academic purpose.
The beneficiary, in his reaction told us that he graduated from University of Nigeria Nsukka but unfortunately became kidnapped at Nekede/Federal University Technology Owerri Junction in Imo State on 4th July 2024 through which N5m ransom was paid for his freedom.
According to him, as a result of the difficulty involved in gaining admission into Law School that he approached the group members who assisted him with the cheque of N250,000.
He thanked the people and appealed for more help from the government and the good spirited individuals.
