LG polls: Police deploys officers to 13-LGAs, assures free, fair election

As Council chairmen and councillors of 771 wards in Ebonyi prepare for its election, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Augustina Ogbodo has said that she has deployed officers in the thirteen local government area in the state .

The command in a statement made available to newsmen by the police public relations officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu dated AZ.:5200/EBS/PPRO/VOL 9/1 of 18th July,2024 said that the command has massively deployed officers across the state and would collaborate with sister security agencies to ensure that residents of the state peacefully exercise their franchise.

According to him, "The general public should note that there would be a restriction of movement on the election day from 8 am to 3 pm. However, persons providing essential services such as EBSIEC staff, accredited media and election observers, firefighters, ambulances among others are exempted from this restriction but should provide a valid means of identification. "The CP is using this medium to implore all political actors to eschew all forms of violence and utterances that can heat the polity and warn their supporters against instigating the breakdown of law and order while urging the electorates to conduct themselves in a civil manner on election day.
