Ebonyi:Izhi Media Workers Elect New Executives As Gov Nwifuru Preaches Unity
Izhi Media Workers Association of Nigeria on Saturday, 24th August 2024, elected the new executive members of the organization.
According to statement signed by the Public Relation Officer, Comrade Victor Chibueze Nwegede and made available to newsmen, Comrade Emmanuel Nwizi of Nigeria Television Authority, NTA emerged as the National President of the Association and Comrade Innocent Nwuzor of NTA emerged as the Vice President at the election held at Ogodo Bush Bar in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital.
Also elected was Comrade Moses Peter Nwite of Voice of Nigeria, VON, as the Secretary-General and Comrade Andy Ndubuisi Nwogha of Glorious FM Radio as the Assistant Secretary of the association.
But Comrade Victor Chibueze Nwegede of Nigerian Pilot Newspapers emerged as Publicity Secretary, Comrade Moses Erogu of Ebonyi Broadcasting Corporation, EBBC won Financial Secretary, and Comrade Sunday Odom (EBBC Staff) was returned as the Treasurer of the body.
Other elected officers included Comrade Amuche Agbo of the Nigerian Post as the Provost, Comrade Gabriel Eze of EBBC - Director of Social 'I,' Comrade Sunday Nwojiji of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN - the DOS 'II,' and Comrade Celestina Nkashi (EBBC Staff) - the Auditor General.
The Chairman of the Electoral Committee members, Prince Emmanuel Amadi, after declaring the winners of the election, said the elected officers met the required criteria and, therefore, were immediately inaugurated according to the association's constitutional provisions.
Amadi urged the new officers of the association to be magnanimous in justifying the trust reposed in them by their supporters and entire members of the body during the exercise.
The Emeritus President and the Special Assistant to Ebonyi State Governor on Inter-Party Affairs, Comrade Sunday Nwambam, expressed joy over the peaceful atmosphere witnessed during the election and urged the executives to work together while championing the members' welfare.
"I must be open to you, if you don't work together as executives and carry the members along, it will form the beginning of your failure.
"For the newly sworn-in President, you must be open to every executive and member by ensuring peace and unity play in a gallery," Nwambam advised.
Members of the Elders' Council of the association including the Publisher of the National Guide Newspapers - Chief Moses Nwobegu, Mr Peter Nwante of thr NTA, among others, commended the peaceful composure of the members of the organization during the exercise and however, advised the officials to be much committed by working towards promoting the body to a limelights.
Meanwhile, the new President of the Association, Comrade Emmanuel Nwizi, while speaking on behalf of the executive members, assured open door policy and to always champion policies and programs that would bring healthy living to Izhi people, their neighbourhoods and society at large.
