2024: IFA sanctions Mbeke DC, commences Quarter final on Sunday
The Mbeke DC football team has been threatened to be sanctioned for disobeying the Izzi Football Association rules in the 2024 season.
This is coming following the team's absence in their home and away match of the ongoing Izzi Football Association Super League group stage match, thereby, attracting fine of paying all the expenses incurred by IFA in the cancelled match.
The Local Organizing Committee Chairman, Mr George Iboko made the disclosure while addressing newsmen in Abakaliki, adding that the team absence in their home and away match attract fine according to IFA rule.
He explained that the league would be completing their group match in the week while commences its quarter final match on Sunday.
The Local Organizing Committee chairman express readiness for the quarter final, explaining that different teams have shown support and that the season would be exceptional as football enthusiasts have shown interest from the beginning of the season to take some of the good players to join Nigeria National League after the season.
"We have so far played forty matches today and will be completing group stage soon to commence quarter final on Sunday.
"The only challenge we have so far encountered in the season is Mbeke DC team absconding from their match in both home and away yesterday. It was annoying because we made all the preparation to ensure the match was successful only to see that they didn't come and that attract IFA sanction according to its rule.
"so far so good, the referees, officials and others have been happy seeing that no club has raised petition against each other which is a clear indication that we are now getting what we want having 13-DCs with no complain except the Mbeke's.
"I have sent my coach to the two fields we'll be using for the quarter final and convinced that they are ready and tomorrow will be there to confirm the information.
"We are hopeful that after this season, our boys will be fit to be picked to register for FA cups as we have invited many coaches from other states and Ebonyi to come watch the final at the Governor's home field CSS Nwofe where we will play final on 26th December."he said.
