Ebonyi Born Real Estate Mogul Flags off Unity Football Tournament

A successful Ebonyi born real estate mogul and philanthropist, Engineer Dalington Ugota on weekend flagged off unity football tournament, 'Esthinton Unity Cup Competition 2024', aimed at encouraging young but talented footballers in the Ezza South Local Government area of the State.

Ugota while performing the function at the Onueke Township Stadium between the Golden Boys of Azuebonyi Idembia and the Ezzama Breakers said that the gesture is another ways to contributing to the human capital development adding that the exercise would help improve in all round development. According to him, "An investment in human beings can transform the development of the general society, and that is why we say in our own little way, We did like to come to this format, and I'm grateful to God for making today a reality. Engineer Ugota expressed optimism that the exercise would give birth to future stars that would represent the state in football game across the country and even diaspora. "We are hoping that in future we will have superstars not just from Ezza South but Ebonyi state and Nigeria at large". Earlier, the Bishop of Abakaliki Catholic Diocese, Rev Fr Peter Nworie Chukwu commended the initiator of the tournament, Engr Ugota and assured of his support for the project. "This is a beautiful thing. Anyone that is trying to build up others, I will give the person maximum support and that's why I'm here today". Others who graced the flag off ceremony include the Senator representing Ebonyi Central, Engr. Ken Eze, member representing Ikwo/Ezza South federal Constituency, Hon. Chinedu Ogah and Chairman of Ezza South Local Government Area, Mrs Euphemia Nwali commended Engr. Ugota for the initiative and described it as a demonstration of love and unity for the people. They advised Ebonyians in diaspora to always think home and invest in the youth, noting that it would enhance human productivity and reduce crime in the state while improving on human capital development. On his part, the former People's Democratic Party,(PDP) Chairman in the state Barrister Ifeanyi Nworie expressed excitement about the event, noting that it is first of its kind, where Ezza South has come in unison to showcase love towards one another. "I feel excited, especially about the coming together of my people. I think it's the first time that Ezza South is coming together irrespective of political affiliation. The business class, working class, politicians, and the clergy are here working with us. I feel so excited." Nworie said. As the chairman of the planning committee, Nworie expressed confidence that the tournament would help the youths to be useful to the society. Meanwhile, the kick off match between Golden Boys of Azuebonyi Idembia and Ezzama Breakers ended in goalless, hence, the competition is expected to come to an end on Sunday 5th January,2025.
