WASA 2024: Nkwegu Military Cantonment Honours NTA Season Reporter, Nwante
A seasoned reporter with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Mrs. Ijeoma Peter Nwante has been presented an award as the Most Dedicated Media Security Correspondent, by the Nkwegu Military Cantonment Abakaliki.
The award was rented to her, as part of activities marking the 2024 West Africa Social Activity (WASA) of the 82 Division of Nigerian Army, replete with display of the country's rich cultural diversity at the sports field of the Nkwegu Military Cantonment Abakaliki, at the weekend.
The West African Social Activities (WASA) 2024 in Ebonyi State, provided opportunity for officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army to celebrate with their families and host communities, thereby taking them away from their rigorous routine.
It is a time of displaying various rich and diverse cultures of the country showcasing their potentials.
The Commander Nkwegu Military Cantonment, Lieutenant-Colonel Audu Bako while welcoming guests at the event, eulogized the strength and courageous efforts of officers and men of the cantonment in giving their best to see that lives and security of the state is paramount.
Acknowledging with deep sense of patriotism, the anxiety and emotional challenges soldiers families and friends have to contend with as officers and soldiers strive for the peace and unity of Nigeria, some friends of the cantonment assured continued support to the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in the state to ensure effective discharge of their duties, they commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede.
The GOC 82 Division, Major General Hassan Dada, the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Audu Bako, as well as officers and men of the cantonment for the civil-military cooperation.
The event climaxed with tug of war competition, cultural displays, presentation of awards to the neatest soldiers in the cantonment as well the lighting of bonfire.
Receiving the award, Ijeoma Peter Nwante who was represented by her husband, Mr Peter Nwante thanked the Nigerian Army for the recognition.
Mrs. Nwante who is the National Financial Secretary of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), said the award will spur her to doing more.
She praised the Nigerian Army for its concerted efforts in ensuring security in the country, while charging all Nigerians to support the army in carrying out its constitutional role.
