NNL: "We'll Reclaim All Our Lost Points, Abakaliki FC Captain Boasts
...Defeats Rovers in home match
Abakaliki Football Club captain, Ezeama Ifeanyi has boasted that the team would reclaim all the points they had lost in their previous matches.
The team defeated Rover FC 1-0 to break the jinx since their first appearance in Nigeria National League 2024 season in a home match that took place at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, Abakaliki, Ebonyi state capital.
Speaking, the Chairman Abakaliki FC, Senator Obinna Ogba faulted the cancellation of second goal, and described the win as a thing of necessity thanking players for making the management proud.
"I am happy we broke the jinx, from onward, I am sure,they will be winning. Though, I don't understand why the referee should cancel the second goal, but his decision is final."
The State Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Prince Richard Idike appreciated the team for their high level of discipline, noting that the team showed high level of commitment towards the victory.
He acknowledged the team's readiness to take the stage fully and maintained optimistic that the De Rice Boys would come out better in their next match with Madiba Football Club in Lagos.
"I am happy even though we had some mismanagement by the referee which as a discipline team, we don't have to take the law into our own hands, and a referee being the one who decides, we have to accept his decision.
"With what I have seen so far, the team has started blending and understanding themselves better, I am expecting a win in our next match in Lagos state."Idike added.
On their part, the Head coach of Abakaliki FC, Ifeanyi Onyedika and Rovers Football Club, Eshu Ukwa praised their team for their wonderful performances.
