Herdsmen Attack: Governor Nwifuru Condemns Gruesome Murder Of 2-Chosen Pastors, 14 Others In Ebonyi
Ebonyi state governor , Francis Nwifuru has expressed dismay over the gruesome murder of sixteen villagers by suspected herders at Amagu Nkalaha in Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi state.
The Governor disclosed this while addressing the deceased family members at Amagu Nkalaha during the on sight assessment of the incident.
Governor Nwifuru who was represented by His Deputy, Patricia Obila narrated how she tried to resolve the matter with the Fulani community, expressed shock that the three weeks mandate given to the two groups to meet and report back to her,has not elapsed before the herders attacked the community.
She called on the community to unite and protect their people, assuring them of government support and enjoined the entire community to seek the face of God for His divine intervention.
Confirming the killing of sixteen villagers, the traditional ruler of Nkalaha autonomous community, His Royal Highness Eze Thomas Igabor frowned over the killing of his people, noting that implementation of the report submitted between 20th and 30th December would brought end to the gruesome killing of the people in the area.
On their parts, the Executive chairman, Ishielu Local Government Area, Ifeoma Agwu and Director General of Ebonyi state Small and Medium Entreprise Development Agency, Dr Stephen Odo thanked the state government for quick response and expressed optimism that the presence of Ebonyi state Management Emergency Agency,(EB-SEMA), would come to the people's rescue while calling on other relevant agencies for their intervention.
Some of the victims who spoke to our Correspondent, Ndubuisi Nwogha, including Mrs.Ogbebor Justina and Mr Daniel Ogbu described the incident as sorrowful and urged Federal and state government to come for their rescue.
However, it was gathered that the herders came from Ehamufu through Egedegede burst in Ogada, which is between Ehamufu and Nkalaha boundary ,and from there burst into Amagu village from where they burnt over twenty houses,Anyanwuakam shrine with two pastors of Lord's Chosen and 14 villagers killed while two people are still missing at the time of filing this report.
