Senator Nwebonyi, Others Bags Youth Ambassadorial Award

The Senate Deputy Chief Whip and Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial district, Senator Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi has bagged another coveted award as the Ebonyi Sports and Youths Development Ambassador from the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, (SWAN)Ebonyi State chapter.

Senator Nwebonyi who is a founder Nwebonyi Football Club was bestowed on Senator Nwebonyi and other deserving awardees at the Grand Finale of the '2025 SWAN Week' programme held at the former Parliamentarian Multipurpose Hall Cabinet Office, Abakaliki.

According to the Ebonyi State Chairman, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Comrade Nwogha Ndubuisi, the prestigious award was bestowed on Senator Nwebonyi in recognition of his invaluable contributions to the development of sports and youth development in Ebonyi state citing his new football club- Nwebonyi FC and his numerous youths empowerment programmes as some of the examples.

Speaking through his Senior Special Assistant on Social Welfare, Hon. Mgbemene Onyekachi who represented him at the event, Senator Nwebonyi appreciated the organizers of the program for recognizing his modest contributions to sports and youth development in the state stressing that he has been motivated to do more. He commended the Ebonyi State Governor, RT Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for reviving sporting activities in the state through his launching of the victorious Abakaliki FC and his relentless drive to better the lots of Ebonyi youths.

Senator Nwebonyi also reiterated his unwavering commitment to sports and youth development in line with the People’s Charter of Needs mantra of the state government while assuring that he would continue to partner with SWAN to actualize their noble objectives.

He later made a donation of undisclosed amounts of money in support of the SWAN activities in the state. Some notable Ebonyians including Senator Obinna Ogba, Prince Richard Idike, Engr Darlington Ugota among others equally received the awards.
