Ebonyi Government Launches Digital Taxi Service

Ebonyi State Government has launched a digitally enabled cab system to render a comfortable and regulate taxi service in the state.
Speaking, Governor Nwifuru during the formal launch and commissioning of the Ebonyi Cab Service (EBOCAB), at the Corporate Headquarters, Ogoja Road by Ecumenical Centre Abakaliki explained that the establishment of the EBOCAB is informed by the touting, harassment, theft and intimidation of commuters by some tricycle riders at the Ebonyi State International Market. To end the scarry development, Governor Nwifuru explained that he had to establish the EBOCAB to provide smart and cost-effective transport alternatives to the people of the state.
He further noted that the cab service uses a telecommunication network to connect users to drivers within the metropolis in less than five minutes and tasked management to remain focus while ensuring prudence in the company's management.
Earlier, the General Manager, EBOCAB company, Henry Okemini explained that the safety of their customers are their utmost concern knowing that the vehicles are all new and promised to ensure that the taxi service serve the people of the state as envisioned by the state governor.
The state commissioner for Transport and Special Project, Mr Collins Igboke described the innovation as a welcome development and assured of the ministry's readiness to ensure the vision of the state governor is fully realized. He noted that the vehicles are tracked for its safety, adding that they can operate in every parts of the state and Enugu airport but, will extend to other places on a special arrangement with the company.
The former Minister for power and steel,Chief Godwin Ogbaga eulogied governor Francis Nwifuru for his strides saying that the commissioning of EboCab is one of the many success stories under the ongoing administration stressing the important of proper management supervision of the drivers to enable them perform optimally and encourage government to invest more in the company.
In their reactions, stakeholders including, Chief Executive Office, Higher Edge Broadcasting Media Limited, Edward Nkwegu,elder statesman, Chief Ugo Chima, Senator Sunny Ogbuoji, Ambassador Frank Ogbuewu among others appreciated governor Nwifuru for the initiative. Our correspondent reports that the vehicles commissioned are sixty brand new pick-up vans, thirty units of Sports Utility vehicles which is said to serve air travelers using the state's airport and high powered motorcycles.
