The wife of the Federal House of Representatives member for Ikwo/Ezza South Constituency, Mrs. Mary Chinedu Ogah, has empowered women in Ebonyi State with items worth millions of naira as part of the 2025 August Meeting of the constituency.
The event, which took place at Blessed Martin’s International School of Science and Technology, Ohatekwe Amagu in Ikwo Local Government Area, brought together women from across Ikwo and Ezza South.
Addressing journalists, Mrs. Ogah urged mothers and married women to embrace peace, love, and unity in their homes through faithfulness to their spouses. She emphasized that faithfulness remains a virtue that fosters stability in the family and strengthens the foundation of society.
She commended the First Lady of Ebonyi State, Her Excellency Mrs. Maudlin Uzoamaka Ogbonna Nwifuru, for championing women’s inclusion in governance, particularly through her foundation—Better Health for Rural Women, Children, and Internally Displaced Persons (BERWO)—which she described as a lifeline to elderly women and the less privileged.
“This Federal Constituency August Meeting is an annual event that brings together women of Ikwo and Ezza South. This year, we focused on faithfulness as a virtue. Different companies partnered with us to enlighten women on issues they may ordinarily not know due to limited educational opportunities.
“We are giving back to society what God has given us—education and awareness—by teaching women how to carry themselves in their homes and communities,” Mrs. Ogah stated.
She further noted that a faithful woman embodies self-reliance, obedience, peace, tolerance, and commitment to God’s grace, stressing that women are central to raising morally upright children. “To train a woman,” she added, “is to train a nation.”
Mrs. Ogah also called for harmony between husbands and wives as a way of curbing domestic violence, pointing out that women are the pillars of every family and must always strive to give their best.
Highlights of the event included medical outreach, recognition awards, and a cooking competition sponsored by Honeywell, among other activities.
