Day-3: Over 35 Youths Register for SHOE-A-THON Training In Ebonyi

Not less than thirty-five individuals have so far registered to participate in the ongoing SHOE-A-THON 7-Day training taking place in Abakaliki , Ebonyi State capital.

The event, which is organized by Ada-Ebonyi, a renowned female shoe specialist, at the Tropicana Lounge , Abakaliki, and has already attracted attention from across the state. Speaking during the program, the convener, Miss Sharon Ijuolachi Akpa, popularly known as Ada-Ebonyi, explained that the initiative was designed to empower participants with practical knowledge and skills in shoe production.

She further revealed that at least ten participants will benefit from free training and mentorship sessions, which would equip them with the tools to establish themselves in the footwear industry. Miss Akpa noted that the SHOE-A-THON is not just about learning craftsmanship but also about inspiring self-reliance and entrepreneurship among young people in the state.

She emphasized that the program aligns with her vision of nurturing local talents and contributing to economic growth through creative ventures. The week-long event is expected to feature intensive workshops, interactive sessions, and practical demonstrations on various aspects of shoemaking, including design, finishing, branding, and marketing strategies.

Participants including the manager Ada-Ebonyi leather work, Master Uchechukwumerije Nwali, Miss Igwere Miracle and Mr Nweze Samuel expressed excitement over the opportunity, stressing that the program would go a long way in opening doors for them to build sustainable livelihoods.

"This 7-days SHOE-A-THON will open doors of opportunity for young Ebonyians, shoemaking is on level as Abokis repair already made shoe, but in Ada-Ebonyi leather work team, we produce new shoes from the scratch. The SHOE-A-THON will run for seven days at the Tropicana Resort, after which successful participants will be presented with certificates and opportunities for further mentorship.
