Philanthropist, Ugota Donates N5m to Support Eguho-Ezzagu Rural Electricity Project
The Chairman of Esthinton Group and Executive Director/CEO of Valington Homes Ltd, Dr. Darlington Ugota, has donated the sum of N5 million to support the ongoing rural electricity project in Eguho-Ezzagu community, Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Briefing journalists in Abakaliki, the National President of Ezzagu Zone General Assembly (EZGA), Chief Tobias Offia, described the donation as a major boost to the realization of the project. He disclosed that the electricity project had already gulped over N30 million raised through voluntary contributions and levies by members of the Eguho community.
“It is with deep appreciation and gratitude that I brief newsmen on the efforts of Eguho community in their electricity project,” Offia said. “We must thank one of our brothers, Dr. Darlington Ugota, who is not even an indigene of Ishielu Local Government, for donating the whooping sum of N5 million. This philanthropic gesture is uncommon and has thrown widespread jubilation in our community.”
He praised Ugota for his compassion, describing him as a worthy son of Ebonyi who has consistently demonstrated commitment to the growth, empowerment, and development of the state.
Offia further explained that the project, which involves drawing high tension from Agba and stepping it down at Eguho-Ezzagu, has been largely community-driven due to lack of government support. “Eguho-Ezzagu is a community that lacks basic amenities such as good roads and infrastructure. The much we have achieved so far came from our collective contributions,” he stated.
The president appealed to other well-meaning individuals, political office holders, and government at all levels to support the project, noting that an additional N20 million is required to complete it.
