Vote for Your Preferred Candidates During Anambra Guber, Obi of Onitsha Tells Residents

The Obi of Onitsha, His Majesty Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, has urged indigenes and residents of Onitsha to actively participate in the forthcoming Anambra State governorship election slated for November 8, 2025, by voting for candidates of their choice.
In a statement signed by his Chief of Staff, Chief Osita Anionwu, the monarch emphasized the importance of civic responsibility, reminding citizens that the Nigerian Constitution guarantees freedom of political association and participation. He noted that while Onitsha indigenes are free to support or identify with any political party or candidate of their choice, such affiliations must be done on an individual basis and not in the name of the community or any of its constituent groups. “As a multi-party democracy, every citizen has the inalienable right to belong to, attend rallies, and canvass for any political party of his or her choice without coercion or force,” the statement read in part. The Obi further stressed the need for communal peace and unity, urging all groups within Onitsha to remain politically neutral for the sake of cohesion and mutual coexistence. “For communal cohesion and well-being, all Onitsha constituent groups are, of necessity, politically non-partisan,” the statement added. Achebe called on residents to conduct themselves peacefully before, during, and after the election, and to make choices guided by conscience and the collective interest of Anambra State.
