Human Trafficking: Foundation, Police Rescue 3 Weeks Old Baby In Ebonyi

The Luke Chibueze Adonwe Human Foundation (LACH) in collaboration with Nigeria Police have rescued a three weeks old baby sold out to a woman who has not had a child for past 25 years of marriage.
Barr. Luke Adonwe, The Chief Executive Officer of LACH Foundation, disclosed this in interview in his office, 14 Ojowere street Abakaliki Ebonyi State. The CEO who is also the Director General disclosed that when LACH Foundation discovered the woman and her 3 weeks old baby who was sold to another woman, the foundation quickly intervened by taking the woman to her home but reaching her home, the foundation discovered that the woman had no place to stay let alone of food to eat.
"And so, we quickly purchased bags of rice and gari, other food items and money for her upkeep". He informed "And so, through the collaboration of Nigeria Police, the husband of the woman Mr Chukwuma Igwe Onwe who was a patent drug dealer at Ishieke market was nabbed and he is now cooling off in police custody with the woman whom he sold the baby to". He said. Adonwe called on well spirited individuals to come to the aide of the woman. He promised that LACH will follow up the matter to ensure that the culprit gets deserved punishment. The Police Spokesperson, SP Joshua Ukandu confirmed that the suspected culprit, Mr Chukwuma Igwe Onwe is under their custody pending when he will be charged to Court of law. In appreciation, rescued woman and he newborn baby thanked LACH Foundation who quickly come to their aide by taking over the matter, providing accomodations for her and food items like bag of rice and gari and financial assistance. "It was a thing of Joy and I returned all glory to God who used LACH Foundation to save my baby and I from the hands of human traffickers". She added. The LACH Foundation led by Barrister Luke Chibueze Adonwe later paid familiarization visits to the State Ministry Of Commerce and Industry where he reeled out his mission and vision on how he intend to better the lives of Ebonyi citizens and beyond which he has started. The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs Mojibade Ekuma who spoke on behalf of the Commissioner, told LACH Foundation on the readiness of the ministry to partner with the foundation to better the lives of the people. She expressed hope that LACH Foundation will do better since he is an indigenous person unlike what the ministry experienced in the time past where such organization had disappointed the ministry. The Special Assistant to the Governor of Ebonyi State on Commerce and Industry, Laurretta Igwe Nome said she is going to partner with LACH Foundation in training people on different Skills so that an average Ebonyi person should be self reliant and improve on the economy of the state and commended Governor Nwifuru who has given her the opportunity to serve the people.
