IFA Super League: External Scouts to Select Players for New Izzi United FC — LOC Chairman

The Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the 2025 Izzi Super League, Comrade George Iboko, has revealed that the Izzi Football Association (IFA) has engaged external professional scouts to identify outstanding talents who will form a new football club at the end of the season.
Comrade Iboko made the disclosure on Saturday at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, Abakaliki, while briefing journalists on preparations ahead of the 2025 edition of the tournament. According to him, the committee has concluded all arrangements for a successful kickoff, adding that the Ebonyi State Governor, RT Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru is expected to officially flag off the competition.
“We are fully prepared and have secured the stadium for the games. His Excellency, the State Governor, will be here to kick it off,” he stated. Iboko explained that the introduction of external scouts aims to create wider opportunities for local talents to advance their football careers both within and outside Nigeria.
“We want our players who have been participating in this league to grow and compete locally and internationally. That is why we engaged external professionals to select players for us,” he said.
He further disclosed that players selected by the scouts will form Izzi United FC, which will be registered officially to compete in local and national leagues. Meanwhile, the opening match of the 2025 Izzi Super League is scheduled to hold today , Sunday November 16th will be featuring the defending champions, Mbeke, against Team Ekumenyi Development Center.
