Ebonyi Govt dismisses claims of abandoned projects
By Nwogha Ndubuisi, Abakaliki
The Ebonyi State Government has dismissed reports alleging that some of its ongoing projects have been abandoned.
The Special Assistant to Governor Francis Nwifuru on Inter-Party Affairs, Comrade Sunday Nwambam made this clarification during a press briefing in Abakaliki, following media reports from a one-day inspection tour conducted by the Inter-Party Advisory Committee, IPAC, Ebonyi State Chapter.
He described the reports as a misrepresentation of the actual state of projects visited, urging members of the public to disregard them.
According to him, projects inspected, including the Industrial City at Ezzamgbo, the Vanco Flyover, ICT facilities, and the Aeronautic University, were only initiated a few months ago and still fall within their approved completion timelines.
He explained that all government projects across the state are currently at various stages of execution and are subject to due processes such as verification, funding accountability, mobilisation, and certification.
The Special Assistant accused some individuals of deliberately twisting facts to create misleading content for opposition narratives and advised that future project inspections should involve professional journalists rather than untrained content creators.
He further noted that the Ebonyi State Government has already announced timelines for the commissioning of completed projects beginning next year.
Comrade Nwambam added that political parties in the state remain supportive of Governor Francis Nwifuru’s administration, citing what he described as the governor’s giant strides in project execution.
