IFA 2025 Super League:Mbeke Development Centre Leads Group Stage With 12 Points

Mbeke Development Centre has emerged as the current leader in the ongoing Izzi Football Association (IFA) 2025 Super League, topping Group A with 12 points as the group stage approaches its concluding matches ahead of the final round scheduled for November 19.
The Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), Comrade George Iboko, revealed this in an interview with our sports correspondent in Abakaliki. Comrade Iboko explained that Mbeke Development Centre sits at the summit of Group A with 12 points, closely trailed by Izzi Development Centre, which occupies second position with 11 points in group B.
In another pool, Abakaliki Development Centre is also leading its group with 11 points, keeping its hopes high for qualification into the next stage. He noted that all group fixtures are expected to be completed by Monday next week, after which the quarter-final stage of the competition will commence on November 19. However, the LOC Chairman expressed concern over the habitual late arrival of some teams for scheduled matches.
He referenced a recent incident in which Ekumenyi Development Centre was awarded a walkover against Amachi Development Centre after waiting from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for their opponents, in violation of IFA’s match regulations. Iboko urged all participating teams to adhere strictly to match timing guidelines to ensure fairness and smooth coordination as the Super League progresses. Speaking on the unresolved fixture between Igbeagu and Enyida Development Centres, he disclosed that the IFA management is awaiting a detailed referee’s report. Both Development Centre Coordinators have been invited to clarify issues related to Enyida’s alleged failure to clear their field and the reported lateness of the Igbeagu team. He assured that a fair and decisive ruling whether the match will be replayed or not will be issued soon. Comrade Iboko encouraged football fans to continue supporting their favourite teams and called on stakeholders across the three Local Government Areas to maintain their commitment to the competition. He emphasized that the vision of the sponsor and Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, is to promote unity and nurture the sporting talents of Izhi youths through the IFA Super League.
