Nwifuru’s Aide Turns Christmas Into Carnival, Rallies Support for Governor’s Re-Election

The Special Assistant to the Ebonyi State Governor on Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Barrister Maryann Nkwegu, on Boxing Day transformed the 2025 yuletide celebration into a colourful carnival at her Okpoduma Nwofe Agbaja Villa, using the occasion to mobilise grassroots support ahead of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s re-election bid.
Addressing a large gathering of community members, Barr. Nkwegu said the celebration was organised to spread love, hope and unity in line with the spirit of Christmas, while also appreciating the people for their unwavering support and confidence in the leadership of Governor Nwifuru.
She reaffirmed her commitment to championing the fight against gender-based violence in Ebonyi State, stressing that the Nwifuru administration remains resolute in protecting the rights and dignity of boy child, women, children and other vulnerable groups across the state. The governor’s aide also used the platform to formally canvass support for Governor Nwifuru’s re-election, assuring constituents of continued people-oriented governance, inclusive development and sustained advocacy if the administration is given another mandate.
Some beneficiaries of the event, as well as community stakeholders, commended Barr. Nkwegu for her accessibility, compassion and dedication to public service, describing the Christmas carnival as timely, impactful and people-centred.
The event attracted women support groups, youths, community leaders and party faithful, and featured music, cultural performances, empowerment activities, as well as the distribution of food items and other relief materials to the less privileged. The celebration climaxed with prayers for peace, progress and sustained development of Ebonyi State under the leadership of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.
